At first, I was confused calling this woman Yvonne, like my aunt. As it turns out, Yvonne is the dog’s name and Sheila is the adult female’s name! So I sincerely apologized and asked if we could sit and chat. Sheila agreed and she shared with me that Yvonne is a Victorian bulldog who will be eight this August. Sheila told me she got Yvonne when she was 3 months old. She was out shopping with her bestie, Donna. Donna wanted to go into the pet store and Sheila said no. Eventually, Shelia gave in to Donna and they went in to look. Sheila saw Yvonne and was instantly in love when she looked at the dog and exclaimed, “Oh my God look at her!” Sheila knew coming from a pet store she would be pretty pricey and she walked away. Donna said you know what I’ll buy her for you. Sheila of course said no and they left. They were driving and all of a sudden Donna was going in the wrong direction and they ended up back at the pet store. Donna went in and bought this dog for Sheila. Sheila had one issue for her, would her significant other approve? They called her significant other who said you can bring a dog home if you name it after me, Yvonne. And of course, obviously, they did! Yvonne is pretty funny. She will let anybody in but try to leave the house and he’s going to try to hold you captive and keep you in the house! She doesn’t want anybody to leave. Sheila and Yvonne visit the dog park pretty much every day. When asked for suggestions. Sheila said she had none. She was content with our park. When asked about hobbies, she said truly it’s that I have this love for animals. It doesn’t matter what animal it is. I’m going to help it. I’ll save it. I’ll do whatever I can. While she’s in the park she does volunteer and do things like picking up feces from other people’s dogs or will take care of the water bowls for the dogs cleaning them and filling them up with fresh water. Sheila is definitely an asset to our dog park. Thank you, Sheila.
And by the way, Donna is still her bestie!
